Privacy at DownForEverybodyOrJustMe

DownForEverybodyOrJustMe provides independent website checks and community service reports. We collect only the information needed to run these features, prevent abuse, and review support requests.

Website checks

When a check shows that a public website is reachable, the website’s domain name (never the full address, your IP address or anything about you) may be added to our public services directory. When you submit a website for a check, we temporarily encrypt the requested address while it waits in the worker queue. The full address is removed when the short-lived check job expires. We store a keyed hash of the host and the check outcome, HTTP status, timings, check location, and time. We do not store URL query strings or page contents in check history.

Checks are single requests from one network location and do not establish that a website is available to everyone.

Community reports

A report contains the selected service and issue category, its time, and a keyed hash of the trusted request source used for rate limiting and repeat-report controls. We do not ask for an account or collect free-text details with a report. Accepted reports are kept for up to 30 days; aggregated 15-minute counts are kept for up to 365 days.

Contact requests

If you contact us, we collect the request category, your email address, any service you select, and your message so we can review and respond. Support requests are removed after up to 90 days. Do not include passwords, access tokens, or sensitive account information.

Contact us at the contact and correction form to ask for access or deletion where applicable.

Operational records

We keep aggregate daily feature counts that do not include report text, check targets, or visitor IP addresses. Keyed hashes used for rate controls are retained only as needed for short rate-limit windows. Administrative actions and worker health records are kept to protect and operate the service.

Cookies, advertising and third parties

Public visitors do not need an account. The administration area uses a secure, short-lived session cookie for authorized operators. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used; it sets cookies and collects usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. We also use Google AdSense to show advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. If you decline personalised ads in our cookie notice, we ask Google to show non-personalised ads only. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info, and read how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Bookmarks you save are stored only in your browser. A configured status source makes requests to the provider address entered by an operator, not to your device. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Retention and changes

Retention periods above are maximum operational periods; expired records are removed by the scheduled retention worker. We may update this notice as the service changes. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through Contact.
